Red Fraction Interview
Wieder gibt es ein Interview (engl) mit den Leuten von Red Faction. (Forum)
4) Will we be able to end death animations? for example, shoot a guy in the leg until he dies , he falls to the ground clutching his leg yelling and bleeding. Feeling bad for him you pull out your sniper rifle and fire a 50 cal round into his chest. Will he stop moving or will he continue on his merry way through the animation. remember in SOF when you could shoot the guy in the nuts then shoot both his legs off and watch him float in the air for a second while he died? (yeah i asked this before but I forgot what thread it was in)
-Um, you want to kill someone again once you've already killed him? The death animations are not long, drawn-out things; we're trying to create a fun, involving, fast-moving FPS, not a sadism simulator. People who want the latter can play SOF for that sort of stuff. Animations can get interrupted, blending smoothly from one to the other. Head shots often cause the victims to be thrown on their backs (or fronts if from behind), so I guess if you got a headshot on someone who was in another dying animation, he'd flop. I've never done it, but it could happen, I think. I can tell you that if someone is in a death animation, you don't have time to pull out another weapon before he's dead on the ground. Again, they're not long, drawn-out animations.
