Neocron Interview

Auf NeocronOnline gibt es jetzt ein Interview mit Jörg Schwitzer (Kopf der ganzen Bande). Es ist relativ kurz und erfragt mehr die Sache hinter dem Spiel, als das Spiel selbst.

Several things have changed in the nearly 3 years Neocron has been in development.For instance, the dot-com market bust, the slower rate of increase for PC game sales and the (frankly speaking) glut of announced Massively Multiplayer games.Reakktor and Neocron itself had a minor set-back in the long search for a publisher.So now I want to ask: You have a lot invested in Neocron, how do you feel its going?

First of all, let me thank you for your well chosen questions. I am always glad to answer questions that are not like "Will there be hoverbikes?", "Will there be full nudity?" etc. :)

Well, anyway... I wouldn't call it a dot-com bust, ...but there surely is a natural darwinian selection in progress. To say it's a bust, only means that people do not understand what is actually going on: All dot-coms that have solid products and a proven potential to actually earn (!) money will survive.

I am absolutely sure that Reakktor.com is one of the 'good' dot-coms. ...And that is the only reason why I personally invested so much money into it. Actually, I just recently bought back the majority in shares, as our main investor is about to go belly up. You may have noticed the "A Division of Schwiezer System Ltd." line under the Reakktor.com logo. It has been added after I bought back the majority of the games division of Reakktor Media. Reakktor.com now is a 100% daughter of Schwiezer System ltd. ...and I named it Reakktor.com, to show that there actually _are_ successful dot-coms out there ;)

Btw.: There never was a thing like a "long search for a publisher". We had a couple of good and solid offers. Finally, we had to decide between UbiSoft and CDV and we picked CDV since we strongly believe in their abilities and the fact that they will set a big focus on marketing Neocron worldwide. They also did a good job with their recent full price titles (e.g. Sudden Strike, Cossacks)
