Battlefield: Modern Combat
Herbst 2005 ist noch lange hin

Heute mittag trudelte eine Mail von Digital Illusions ein - und die wird einige ganz und gar verstimmen. Das für Anfang November diesen Jahres zum Release angeplante Battlefield: Modern Combat wird sich auf Herbst 2005 verschieben. Als Grund nennt Digital Illusions den Single-Playerpart. Für das hinzugewonnene Jahr wird Electronic Arts dem Team von Digital Illusions einen weiteren Zuschuß zum Budget genehmigen, damit in aller Ruhe an dem Game gewerkelt werden kann.

Im O-Ton sagten beide Firmen zu dieser Entscheidung: "We are very pleased with the decision to add single player to Battlefield: Modern Combat. It is strategically important for Digital Illusions, and gives us greater opportunity to establish the Battlefield trademark on the consol market before the launch of the next generation's consoles. The postponed launch of Battlefield: Modern Combat means lower royalty incomes during 2004. On the other hand the potential for better royalty incomes during 2005 will increase prominently" ist sich Patrick Söderlund, CEO von Digital Illusions sicher.

Auch Electronic Arts kann sich mit der Verlängerung anfreunden. "Adding more time to the development cycle of the game will result in a stronger feature set and more compelling product. We are confident that this decision will result in a stronger product and increased sales" so Greg Richardson, General Manager, EA Partners.
